Biology and CultureEdit
Twi'lek are tall, thin humanoids indigenous to the Ryloth star system, located in the Outer Rim of the galaxy. Their most distinguishing features are the twin tentacular appendages, called lekku which protrude from the back of their skulls. These 'head tails' serve both sensual and cognitive functions, which help the Twi'leks survive the harsh environs of their homeworld. They are capable of learning and speaking most humanoid tongues, the Twi'lek language combines both speech and movement of the head tails, making it a very difficult language for even the most skilled linguists to interpret.
The range of possible Twi'lek skin colors was extremely diverse, including green, orange, brown, yellow, white, and purple — all in varying shades and hues. Twi'leks of these skin colors were referred to as Ryloth Twi'leks, with green being the most common color. Other types of Twi'leks included the particularly rare blue-skinned Twi'leks, known as Rutian Twi'leks, and the rarest red pigment of the Lethan Twi'leks, whose skin color was caused by a mutation of the genetic code. Lethan Twi'lek dancing girls were a sought after commodity for Hutts and other slave traders due to the rarity. Another interesting culutral aspect of Twi'lek is that while the males tend to be brutishly ugly, the females all tended to be very beautiful, being bred for their appearance to further their popularity on the slave market. Another rare mutation is rather than having a single pair of lekku, a Twi'lek has two pairs. Both rare mutations require an app to keep it special.
Twi'lek are not necessarily war like. And while one may be willing to sell his own daughter into bondage another may use subterfuge and cunning to free Twi'lek slaves. In the galaxy, members of this race can be found in professions ranging from pirating and smuggling, to merchant or corporate executive. They have also been known to work as spies, and majordomos for Hutts.
Twi'lek are alse extremely proud of thier head tails, keeping them meticulously groomed. Twi'lek also have been known to telegraph their moods and emotions, not always intentionally, through their head tails. As a race, they are not inclined to favor any particular faction over another, viewing each one in terms of what can they get out of it.
Tentacles: Twi’leks can use their tentacles to communicate in secret with each other, even if in a room full of individuals. The complex movement of the tentacles reveals emotions and conveys messages. A Twi'lek need only succeed an EASY difficulty on alien cultures to understand what is being 'said'. A non-Twi'lek needs to succeed a VERY DIFFICULT difficulty on alien cultures to gain an understanding.
Neck pouches: Male Twi'lek are able to put small or dimitive objects into their neck pouch, which is difficult to find in the folds of their skin without the aid of a scanning device.
