Biology and CultureEdit

While humans were among the most plentiful of the intelligent species of the Known Galaxy, they have also proven remarkably prolific and adaptable. Human derived species, called Near Humans, are remarkably similar to baseline humans, but due to local environments have evolved unique adaptations to their surroundings. Other baseline humans evolved due to selective breeding, such as Hapans or due to cultural influence, such as the Lorrdians.

The appearances of near-humans could vary wildly. Physical traits would be markedly different, and can provide hints about an individual's home planet, such as one with a high gravity would have a short and broad people while a planet with very low gravity could have a sub-species that is frail looking and tall. Even the suns could affect the skin pigment, where a young hot sun creates a people with dark skin and an older sun could have a people who is pale.

Another way for Near Humans to come into being was the mingling of human blood with one of the Near Human aliens, such as Nagai or Chiss. Offsprings whose parents are of two species, such as one being Zeltron and the other Arkanian would be considered Near Humans.

On Star Wars: Dark Dreams, for the most part, Near Human is unrestricted, as long as the differences between Human and the character are in appearance or culture. If the character is to have Force affinity, additional arms, extra internal organs, wings, etc, an Application is necessary for the Admin to review.

These examples are playable without an app and are presented with some information detailing culture and appearance.

A close up of a female Chalactan's facial gem.

Chalactans were a dark-haired, dark-skinned, and dark-eyed baseline humans who were deeply spiritual and made the seeking of philosophical truth and balance central to their culture. Their striving for this goal is embodied by the Chalactan Adepts, and much like the Mirialans, they adorned their faces with marks so as to distinguish accomplished levels of enlightenment. In the case of the Chalactans, small jewels and beads are used instead of tattoos.

Kiffar Merc

A female Kiffar merc with cybernetics.

Kiffars hailed from Kiffu and came in the whole range of skin tones like humans. What made them near human was their culture of tatooing their faces in red, yellow, and green, in varrying patterns dependant upon their mother's markings, these qukuuf were passed on through the families and tattooed upon young Kiffar. If the young Kiffar's mother wasn't Kiffar, then he or she would inherit their father's markings. Clan membership was passed on through the father's line, and the qukuuf were altered to reflect this. Another interesting facet of the Kiffar was that roughly one in a hundred could read the stories of inanimate objects, like a Jedi with Psychometry; this ability would need to be apped for.

A Mirialan with facial tattooes.

Miralans were native to the planet Mirial. They had greenish-yellow skin with males having darker skin than females. Mirialans were very religious or spiritual and believed that the actions of each individual had an effect on the Mirialan d

estiny as a whole. They used tattooes on face and hands to commemorate the completions of certain tests or tasks. Thus, the maturity of an individual may be discerned by the number of tattoos they carries, as well what tasks and tests they had successfully completed.

Theelin with hot pink droid

A young Theelin smuggler.

Theelins were a near human species in the sense that the orignal Theelin species could no longer interbreed with one another due to random mutations of their DNA code and so began to take up mates outside of their species in an attempt to stave off extinction so all that was left were technically halfbreeds. The fullblooded Theelins, believed to be extinct, had a culture filled with art, dancing and leisure. Their most beautiful pieces of music and art were created near their end. Their halfbreed legacy only held pieces of the rich history and were often found enslaved to Hutts and other criminal organisations for their exotic appearances and singing voices. Theelins have pale peach to vibraint green skin with wild coloured spots or strapes, such as blue or pink. Their hair grew spikey and came in vibrant colours. Some have facial horns on the sides of their faces, and some had unusually shaped hooved feet and while most had human five digit hands, some only had three digits.

A female Vorzydiak.

Vorzydiaks were a lithe, exotic humanoid from one of two worlds orbiting Vorzyd in the Outer Rim. The Vorzydiak possessed green skin, elegantly shaped eyes, shapely hands with long fingers, and spindly black or brown hair. Their antennae are flexible and curving and can be concealed or sported openly. The two planets had opposing cultures producing different outlooks in their inhabitants. The traditionalist believed one's purpose was defined by the work they did. The 'Freelies' were founded by a group of rebelious youthes who wanted to have fun in their lives. This splinter group founded a casino world.

A Wroonian noblewoman.

Wroonians were well-traveled beings from Wroona that possessed bright to dark blue skin and had bright yellow irises. They had established numerous far-flung colonies, were care-free, and were deeply spiritual and favoured body decoration. Wroonian hair followed shades of blue and black, though purple and even red was not unknown. The men can and did sport facial hair and their hair lightened with age. A well-dressed Wroonian was the norm and most also had an interest in the fine arts, often personally dabbled as well as appreciated the works of others.

Zygerrian Slaver

Zygerrians as a species were well-known for its long history of violence, war, and slavery, which they viewed as a natural order of life. This contributed to the fact that the Zygerrians were feared across the galaxy. The founders of the Zygerrian Slavers Guild, the Zygerrians conducted slaving operations in the Outer Rim Territories for centuries before the Clone Wars. At one point, the species was crushed by the Jedi Order, but they eventually recovered. Well versed slavers they often clashed with Rebel privateers and bounty hunters. Distinguished by a number of bony spurs on their face as well as their blood red hair.
