Biology and CultureEdit
Arkanians considered themselves the pinnacle of evolution, and as such many were distinctly arrogant. Arkanian scientists had been experts in genetic manipulation for millennia, and by the time of the Mandalorian Wars the species had been split into many sub-species, making it hard to determine exactly what a baseline Arkanian was. Most Arkanians could pass for Human, though the majority had pure white eyes and four clawed fingers on each hand.
Arkanians were capable of seeing in infra-red light, and their eyes were sensitive to sources of extreme heat. This was helpful on their dark and frigid homeworld, but when traveling off world, many were forced to wear blinders on planets with hotter, younger suns. It was also not unusual for an Arkanian to enhance themselves with internal or external cybernetics, or in some cases both. It was also standard practice for many of the Arkanians to undergo further genetic manipulation on their own bodies, enhancing themselves even further and better than lesser species.
Arakanian off-shoots, such as the Selphi, often had five digits on their hands like a human, and colored irises. Their ears were also often pointed, their flesh pale to white, and hair was either black or silvery-white. In the arrogance of their creators, these off-shoots were more often than not slaves sent off to work mines, do trivial tasks that were below the Arkanians or were on-going medical experiments. The lucky few were kept as 'pets' by their masters but perhaps harsher than working the mines was the reality faced by those favored few who were cast aside in favor of something new.
Darkvision: Arkanian and Off-shoot characters can see up to 20 meters in total darkness.
Arrogance: Pure blood Arkanians were typically arrogant, believing that they have reached the pinnacle of evolution.
Infamy: Arkania was once part of the Sith Empire, and their dedication to aggressive scientific research has given them a somewhat bad reputation as the galaxy’s mad scientists.
Second Class: Arkanian Off-Shoots were typically treated as slaves or second class citizens, their lives meaningless if they outlive their purpose. As such freed off-shoots tended to have a more humble or determined attitude as opposed to arrogant.
